WEST Indies openers Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher shared an unbeaten 154-run opening stand and chased down Zimbabwe’s target of 154 runs in just 12.4 overs to complete a comprehensive 10-wicket win in the second unofficial Twenty20 warm-up match in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Batting first, Zimbabwe went on to post a total of 153 for seven in their 20 overs riding on a fifty from Vusi Sibanda (64).

Sibanda, who opened the batting, hit eight fours in his 56-ball knock and shared a 53-run stand with Sikandar Raza (23).

Carlos Brathwaite (3-23) took three wickets while Dwayne Bravo (2-11) and Jerome Taylor (2-35) shared four wickets equally.

West Indies made a short work of the target as Charles (92 not out) and Fletcher (56 not out) took the Zimbabwe bowling attack apart by hitting boundaries and sixes at will.

Charles raced to a 27-ball fifty in the eighth over and struck a total of 10 boundaries and six sixes in his knock. Fletcher on the other hand managed to complete his fifty in 31 balls in the 12th over while striking five fours and three sixes.

The duo completed the chase in just 12.4 overs and secured a mammoth 10 wicket win.

Charles was the man of the match for his knock.

West Indies will now play another T20 warm-up match against Warwickshire on Friday in Dubai at the ICC Global Cricket Academy. – Cricket World
