HIGHLANDERS Football Club striker Charles Sibanda has kept the Bulawayo giants guessing on whether he will sign for the Bulawayo giants or move on.Sibanda, who was erroneously denied the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League top goalscorer award and made to share it with How Mine’s Kudakwashe Musharu, will officially cease to be a Bosso player at the end of this month following the expiry of his contract.

Sibanda is said to have scored 12 goals, the same as Musharu although the player and the club are putting his tally at a goal more than the How Mine star, something that concurs with what the media has got and previously raised.

His indecision seems to have something to do with Bosso’s principal sponsors, BancABC’s decision to slash their sponsorship package as a result of operational difficulties.

Last Friday, during the 2014 Stars awards banquet in the capital, Sibanda made everyone believe that he was staying with the Bulawayo giants when he told co-presenter of the awards, former Caps United dribbling wizard Alois Bunjira that Bosso will bounce back next season.

Responding to Bunjira’s question on what went wrong to a season that looked so promising for Highlanders, Sibanda said: “It’s true that it looked all so promising but the season just crumbled in front of us but I am sure we will get it right next season.”

However, last night the player seemed to be indecisive.

“At the moment I have not signed anything with Highlanders, I don’t think I will sign, especially with BancABC coming up with cuts like this,” said Sibanda.

Close confidantes to the player though said his heart was still with Highlanders and rubbished claims that he will be joining Bosso’s bitter rivals Dynamos.

Dynamos were also not spared the sponsorship cuts by BancABC.

Meanwhile, bustling How Mine forward Musharu has committed himself to staying with the gold miners, the player has confirmed.

Musharu, who joined How Mine at the beginning of the year as the club beefed up their squad for their maiden African Safari, made no secret of his intention to stay with the Luke Masomere coached outfit.

“I will be signing my contract extension with How Mine this week, I have no reason not to renew it,”Musharu said early this week on his way from the 2014 Castle Lager Soccer Stars banquet night.

The former Monomotapa forward finished the season joint top scorer with Highlanders’ Charles Sibanda at 12 goals although latest revelations show that Sibanda could have been cheated of the accolade as he scored a goal more than the official statistics.

Musharu becomes the second key How Mine employee to declare his intent after head coach Masomere also said he saw no reason why he will not be returning to the gold miners.

The much travelled Masomere said he was confident that his future at How Mine was secure despite inquiries from a number of clubs.

Former championship winning mentor with the now defunct AmaZulu is presently on a player recruitment exercise in the capital, an indication that his employers are also keen to retain him. Among the players that Masomere is reportedly keen to bring to the other side of Shangani River are Buffaloes’ utility player Tafadzwa Mombeshora, Caps United’s duo of goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube and striker Dominic Chungwa. The Mlondolozi Nkomo executive are also said to be closely following developments at Highlanders after reports that the Bulawayo giants will be offloading a number of their senior players whose contracts expire at the end of the month.

Masomere said the How Mine have shown a lot of interest in retaining his services, adding that their relationship has been a fruitful one.

“My contract expires at the end of the month and there is nothing to suggest I would be leaving or that my services would not be required,” Masomere told Chronicle Sport on Tuesday.

He is said to be on the radar of Harare rivals, Dynamos and Caps United.
