Chelsea are struggling to offload Radamel Falcao and end his season-long loan spell at Stamford Bridge from Monaco early, sources have told ESPN FC.

Sources told ESPN FC last month that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is looking into cancelling Falcao’s loan spell in January to enable him to free up space in the squad for a new striker.

However, if Chelsea are to end Falcao’s season-long loan stint early they need to agree to terminate the deal with Monaco and then find another interested party to take him on for the rest of the campaign.

Monaco are reluctant to take Falcao back to Stade Louis II as they do not want to pay all his wages, while finding suitors for the Colombian is proving hard work due to the striker’s poor form during the last 18 months.

Falcao struggled during a season-loan spell at Manchester United last term, scoring four goals in 29 games which resulted in him failing to win a permanent move to Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old has again failed to recapture his best form at Chelsea, making just two starts in all competitions and scoring just one goal.— ESPN.
