THE Chibuku Neshamwari traditional dance national finals will for the first time be held in Bulawayo on July 18. Organisers of the showcase, which is now in its 52nd year, have promised to set new records this year, starting with the change of venue from the traditional Harare Gardens to Bulawayo. “The Chibuku Neshamwari finals will be held in Bulawayo for the first time in the history of the event and this shows Delta Beverages’ commitment to bring all sponsorship properties to the people across the country,” Delta Beverages marketing manager, Patricia Murambinda said.

“As a Zimbabwean company, we value the privilege of promoting and celebrating our culture and heritage, which is all part of what it means to be proudly Zimbabwean to us.

“Through our Chibuku brand, we’ve been committed to the arts for over 50 years as Delta Beverages.”

She said they were yet to confirm the venue for the finals. The traditional showcase which features a cross section of popular traditional dances Mbakumba, Mbende, Bira, Setapa and Nyau is well underway with provincial finals already being held. The Mashonaland East finals were held over the weekend in Murewa.

The Matabeleland South finals have been slated for May 2 at the Malaxo Hall Beerhall in Beitbridge. Masvingo’s finals will be held on May 9 in Chiredzi at Chigarapasi Beerhall followed by finals in Chinhoyi at Number 1 Beerhall on May 23.

The Midlands finals will be held on May 30 in Gokwe at Mutamba Beerhall followed by Matabeleland North finals on June 6 in Hwange at Jabulani Beerhall. The Harare finals have been slated for June 13 at Zebra Bar in Mbare.

The Manicaland finals will be held on June 20 at Nyadzonzayi Beerhall in Chipinge. Bulawayo will also host its finals on the same day at Manor Hotel followed by the Mashonaland Central finals in Shamva at Kiparari Bar on June 27.

Winners of the provincial competitions will walk away with a $1,000 cash prize and earn a ticket to represent their provinces at the national finals. The group which will come out tops at the national finals will walk away with $4,000. The second group will receive $3,000 while $2,000 has been set aside for the group which will be third.
