Chicken Inn cautious Joey Antipas

CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas says they will wait for Mamelodi Sundowns to charge at them and catch them on the break in the second leg of the Caf Championships League preliminary round at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday night.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure for South Africa yesterday, Antipas said approaching the game with caution was the best option as Sundowns would have regrouped after their shock defeat in Bulawayo about two weeks ago.

“We just have to stay calm and do what we’ve been doing in training, but one thing we should not do is panic. We have to come up with a good game plan that will bring us a good result,” said Antipas.

“They’re a quality side and we want to prevent them from exposing us and that’s why we’ll approach the game with caution.”

His captain Danny Phiri said they were going to Pretoria to finish the job they started two Saturdays ago.

“We’ve done our best and did all necessary preparations and what lies ahead of us is the pitch that we have to work on for 90 minutes and finish off the task. We’re not scared of their CBD (Sundowns’ attacking trio of Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly) because we prepared a game plan around the whole team, not just the three. We beat them at home and can still do the same on Saturday,” said Phiri.

The winner of Saturday’s encounter will set a Caf Champions League first round date with AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville.
