FAST foods outlets-sponsored Chicken Inn FC are done with recruitment of players with the club’s management saying they will depend on their juniors for the coming season.

The Gamecocks finished last season on position six with 44 points, one behind city rivals Highlanders.

Tawengwa Hara, the club’s secretary-general, said unlike in the past seasons when they had to recruit experienced players from other clubs, this time around the coaches wanted to promote their juniors.

He said their only acquisitions are Mitchelle Katsvairo formerly with FC Platinum, Edmore Chirambadare who was Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League’s top goalscorer with 14 goals while turning out for Tsholotsho and David Temwanjira who they got from Chiredzi.

“Four players Charles Mutero, Aggripa Peperere, goalkeepers Bhekimpilo Ncube and Liberty Chirava have been released and we have promoted six juniors from our developmental Under-18 side. The focus is on blending youngsters with experienced guys so that there is easy transition when some of these guys decide to hang their boots. The coach was impressed by younger players like Devine Lunga and George Majika,” Hara said.

Chicken Inn also sent Ramson Zhuwawo and Last Chibwiro as a way of opening places for their juniors.

The six players that have been promoted are the midfield trio of Amos Ncube, Musa Phiri and Godknows Mnkandla, striker Tambudzai Ngulube, goalkeeper Wandile Ndlovu and Thulani Nxusani.

Seasoned players like Mkhokheli Dube, Bhekimpilo “Bhaka” Ncube, skipper Danny “Deco” Phiri, former Soccer Star of the Year Clemence Matawu, Canaan Nkomo, Thomas Chimenya, Ishmael Lawe, Thabani Goredema, Brian Mbiriri, Moses Jackson and Ben Nyahunzvi are expected to use their valuable experience to assist the youngsters.
