ALL is set for the Copa Coca-Cola boys Under-16 and 17-and-Under launch set for today at Chidyamakono School in the Chivi district of Masvingo.Chidyamakono School headmaster, Morrison Musorowegomo, said they were ready to host the launch of the tournament.

The launch will coincide with the zonal competition, which starts today, at various venues in the country’s 10 provinces.

The zonals will be followed with the district competition set for June 5 and the winners will progress to the provincial finals on July 3.

The national finals will be held from July 17 to 19 in Bulawayo.

Chidyamakono are the defending champions in the girls section and Musorowegomo said they were excited to be hosting the launch of the country’s biggest schools football tournament.

“The achievement by the girls is quite commendable and the community is excited. We’re very excited about the launch and the achievement by the girls and the fruits of their achievement is the launch tomorrow.

“Delta has already sponsored the electrification of our school borehole, we were struggling to raise funds for that.

“And the launch itself, having people converge at Chidyamakono, means a lot to us. We’re ready to host our visitors,” said Musorowegomo.

Musorowegomo said they were expecting their team to do well again this year when they take part in the finals in Bulawayo.

Chidyamakono qualify by the virtue of being the defending champions.

“We expect our girls to do their best and win the title for the third consecutive time. The coaches are putting maximum effort to make sure they bring back the trophy,” said Musorowegomo.

Chemhanza are the defending champions in the boys section.

Today’s launch will see the sponsors unveiling the sponsorship for this year.

Last year they injected more than $250,000 for the competition.

The winners in the boys section got $6,500 while the girls got $3,000 for their efforts.

Former Mighty Warriors player and Tsholotsho FC assistant coach, Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda and former Dynamos forward Lloyd Hlahla are expected to grace the launch.
