SOUTHERN Region Soccer League side Bulawayo Chiefs FC have made some technical changes to the club, bringing on board former Indlovu Iyanyathela coach Dalubuhle Bhebhe as assistant to Thulani Sibanda.

Bhebhe, who has been conducting coaching clinics for primary school children at the Heath Streak Multi-Sports Academy, has replaced former Highlanders defender Anzilom Ndlovu and Nkosiyazi “Juice” Ncube.

Ndlovu was first assistant to Sibanda while Ncube assumed the goalkeepers’ trainer’s duties.

Players who spoke to Chronicle Sport said Bhebhe had come to familiarise himself with the squad before taking over from Sibanda when the season ends.

“Anzilom and Juice (Ncube) didn’t attend our training last week. Instead, Bhebhe joined us and was helping Thuts (Sibanda). Some of the guys have been saying coach Thuts (Sibanda) is leaving at the end of the season because the executive is not happy that we failed to win the championship,” said one player.

Chiefs are second with 52 points, seven behind runaway leaders Bulawayo City.

Nothing short of a miracle can hand Chiefs the title as City only need seven points from four matches to reach an unassailable 65 points.

Bhebhe was part of Chiefs’ side that beat Makomo 3-0 in Hwange on Saturday, a day City were held to a 0-0 draw by Black Boots at Fairbridge.

Chiefs got their goals from Ashton Mhlanga and Kundishora Chakanyuka, who scored a brace.

Chiefs’ secretary-general Dumisani Mantula said they had roped in Bhebhe as part of their rebuilding exercise for next season.

“It’s just a minor technical shake-up meant to add value to the coaching department. It’s not like Anzilom and Ncube have been fired; they’re only creating room for Thulani to exchange ideas with Bhebhe as we plan for next season. They (Ndlovu and Ncube) will be back,” said Mantula.

He conceded that they’d lost the championship to City, adding that they’re looking at finishing the season strongly.

Meanwhile, Technosphere handed Casmyn their first home defeat of the season on Saturday beating them 1-0.

A second half strike by Bekithemba Nyoni was enough to hand 10-man Technosphere maximum points.

Technosphere had attacking midfielder Fortune Nkomazana sent for an early shower in the first half.

“We want a top four finish and I’m happy that the boys matched Casmyn’s aggression going forward. We had a slow start but we want to end the season strongly,” said Technosphere coach Try Ncube.

Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu’s Indlovu Iyanyathela beat Mpumalanga 1-0.
