BULAWAYO-BASED comedian, Clive Chigubu got people rolling on the floor laughing when he took on Jah Prayzah, saying he was making a living from being a Population Services Zimbabwe ambassador. Performing at the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa) 75 Percent comedy show at Reps Theatre here, Chigubu said it was amazing how local artists were being paid for their own safety.

“Paying Jah Prayzah for cutting of his foreskin is as good as being paid by a police officer when they tell you to drive safely. How do you react when you show a girl your riches and she asks you if you made it by cutting off your foreskin?” said Chigubu.

Jah Prayzah was recently circumcised under a drive fronted by Population Services Zimbabwe.
Chigubu also took a swipe on Harare men calling them hustlers.

“I like the way Harare men commercialise things. Look at the way Makandiwa successfully commercialised his church when he introduced miracle money. A lot of tourists started flocking to the country to attend Makandiwa’s services to the extent that the tourism minister, (Walter Mzembi) praised him,” said Chigubu.

The comedian who was clad in a tuxedo and tackies also explained how proud he was to be a ghetto boy saying no one could ever take that away from him.

Daring to go where no one else dares to go, the cast of 75 percent cast which comprised Chigubu, Cde Fatso and Michael Kudakwashe attacked everything from social and political taboos to the more important things like potholes and beer with a 75 percent local content.

Cde Fatso who was the first to perform at the sold-out show took a swipe at Star Fms DJ Innocent Tshuma for his traffic update programme.

“We don’t need a traffic update in Zimbabwe seriously. One would swear Zimbabwe only has one road as Innocent always gives updates of Simon Mazorodze Road. This is funny because this road is outside Star FM offices so Innocent just goes outside and starts telling people about the cars he’s seeing outside his workplace.

“They at times tell us of a robot which is not working yet most of the robots in Zimbabwe don’t work,” said Fatso.
Michael Kudakwashe on the other hand focused on sexual issues and drunkards. The trio will have another show at Reps Theatre today and the last show will be on tomorrow.
