Hwange Ladies 2-2 Tanex Queens
HWANGE Ladies FC continued to chase for their first win in the Zimbabwe Women’s Football Super League after they allowed Tanex Queens to come from behind and snatch a precious point after an entertaining and well attended match at the Old Stadium yesterday.
Chipangano Queens, as they are affectionately known in the coal mining town, went into the match hard pressed for three points after drawing once and losing thrice in their opening four fixtures.

Yesterday, the home fans sang themselves hoarse as they smelled victory only for Queens to stage a determined second half comeback led by Mighty Warriors player Berita Kabwe who capped a memorable afternoon by scoring an all-important equaliser in the 68th minute.

It was the Mutare side who drew first blood on the quarter hour mark through Millicent Chagumachinyi who connected a lovely Kabwe corner kick into the nets leaving the home team goalkeeper Pamela Mhlanga with no chance.

Not to be outdone the Hwange Ladies drew level in the 30th minute through Moreblessing Sibanda who latched on to a sitter by Simelweyinkosi Ncube who is also doubling as head coach Weekly Mwale’s assistant.

Five minutes later Bokani Sibanda put the hosts ahead after another fine pass from Ncube who had combined well with Realise Maphosa and Colleta Khumalo in the middle of the park.

Tanex Queens refused to budge as they piled incessant pressure revolving around their most outstanding player Kabwe who then latched on to a long pass from defence to blast home from close range in the 68th minute to deflate the home team’s ego.

Simelweyinkosi Ncube blamed complacency for the dropped two points.
“It is unfortunate that when we led 2-1 we thought we had done the job but we were mistaken as the visitors came back fighting. We hope to learn from this in our next game,” she said.

Queens coach Swift Dzangare was happy with a point away from home.
“In the first half we panicked a bit but in the last half the girls played to instructions and got a valuable point,” said Dzangare who was flanked by a smiling Kabwe who promised to lead her side to greater heights.

Up-and-coming local referee Bokani Shoko handled the match well.
