ALL is set for the Chibuku Neshamwari Masvingo provincial finals at Chigarapasi Beer Hall in Chiredzi on Saturday. About 10 Shangani groups from Chiredzi, Chief Gudo area in Zaka, Chilonga and Sengwe in Chiredzi are expected to battle it out for top honours.

This year’s competition will feature popular dances such as the traditional mchongoyo, mbakumba, setapa, bira and nyau.

The winning group will walk away with a $1,000 cash prize and earn a ticket to represent Masvingo province at the national finals being held in Bulawayo on July 18.

The group which will come out tops at the national finals will walk away with $4,000. The second group will receive $3,000 while $2,000 has been set aside for the group which will be third.

Delta Beverages marketing manager Patricia Murambinda said all was set for the Masvingo provincial finals which will be followed by Chinhoyi finals next week Saturday.

“As Delta Beverages we value the privilege of promoting and celebrating our culture and heritage. This is part of what it means to be Zimbabwean.

“Through our Chibuku brand we’ve been committed to the arts for over 50 years now,” said Murambinda.

She said Chibuku had proved to be a favourite brew for many people.

“Chibuku is the people’s beer and the provincial competitions in Chiredzi are where people should be on Saturday. Our consumers will enjoy great entertainment free of charge in a safe environment,” she said.

Lucky imbibers will get an opportunity to sample the Chibuku product for free.

The Chibuku Neshamwari competitions date back to the early 1960s and are run in tripartite partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Traditional Dance Association.
