THE Chronicle’s circulation manager, Vethi Tshuma scooped first runner up award at the Regional Contribution 2014 Manager of the year awards hosted by the Zimbabwe Institute of Management at a Bulawayo hotel on Thursday.

The awards are held annually to promote the best management and leadership practices at senior and executive levels.

Tshuma said he was privileged to have won the award after facing stiff competition from other managers.

“I feel honoured. I want to emphasise that I couldn’t have achieved this on my own. I want to thank my team for their support. They’re a committed lot who are dedicated to the sales and distribution of our paper,” he said.

Tshuma also thanked the Editor of The Chronicle, Mduduzi Mathuthu and Marks Shayamano, the company’s General Manager, for mentoring him into becoming a resourceful manager.

“My heartfelt thanks to my editor and general manager. They give me advice on a daily basis when we discuss strategies on increasing our sales and distribution. I value their input and I urge them to continue supporting me,” said Tshuma.

The overall winner in the category was Edgars Stores while the second runner up award went to Tilus Supermarket.
