SONGSTRESS Cindy Munyavi has raised the Zimbabwean flag  high after scooping the Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa at the Africa Music Awards held in Lagos Nigeria over the weekend.Cindy managed to beat Africa’s most popular female artistes including the likes of Zahara, Mampi and Lira who commands a huge following across the globe.

In a interview with our Harare Bureau, the Ndidzorere Moyo Wangu hit-maker who has ventured into fashion business could not hide her joy saying the award came as a dream come true.

“I feel so humbled and blessed and right now I’m out of words. I just want to thank God and everyone who has supported me,” she said.
Cindy has made hits with Ndidzorere Moyo Wangu, Parere Moyo, among others.

Social media has been buzzing yesterday with messages of congratulations from fellow musicians and friends.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe was well-represented at the awards ceremony with a number of Zimbawean artistes having been nominated on different categories including Jah Prayzah who was nominated twice for Best Male in Southern Africa and for Best Collaboration, Isabela Novella for Best RnB and Soul, Buffalo Soul Jah for Best African Reggae and Dancehall and Taps for Best African Electro.

Cindy is the only Zimbawean who managed to bring the award home on the event which saw other African stars in the form of P Square, 2 Face, Davido, Heavy K among others being awarded for their outstanding works in the year 2014.
