THE Zifa High Performance Technical Committee has asked national team coaches and their technical members to re-submit their CVs for appraisal following a spate of disappointing performances on the international stage. The committee’s vice chairperson Gibson Homela told the Zifa website that they were keen to examine the qualifications of technical members for all national teams and make fresh recommendations to the board.

The committee met for the first time in Harare on Wednesday to discuss the technical aspects of football especially the national teams.

“We need to look at all CVs and professional certificates for technical members of the national teams. We need to know their expertise and qualifications and this will enable us to draw meaningful recommendations,’’ Homela said.

The committee will review all technical positions from the age-group teams up to the senior team coached by Ian Gorowa. The coaching post for the Under-23 side has been vacant since the departure of Peter Ndlovu while Jairos Tapera is the Under-20 coach, which unfortunately had been banned from international competitions after failing to honour an Africa Youth Championship fixture.

The Mighty Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza and her lieutenants are also expected to hand in their CVs for the review. The women’s team recently fell to Zambia in the final round of the Africa Women’s Championship to be held in Namibia later this year.

The committee, made up of former players, veteran coaches and administrators, has been mandated to find the problems suppressing results in the various teams and come up with working solutions.

Former Zifa board member responsible for development John Phiri is the chairman of the committee. His team of football experts has indicated they will start by reviewing the qualifications of the coaches and their technical personnel.

Vice-chairman Homela also said they have extended the deadline for Warriors coach Gorowa until July 4 to submit his report on the national team’s failed campaign in the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Homela said it is standard practice that the technical teams submit reports after international assignments. The committee will look at the reports and then come up with recommendations to the board.

“We met yesterday (Wednesday) in anticipation that Gorowa had submitted his report, but we were surprised to be told that despite concerted efforts by the Zifa secretariat, Gorowa had not yet submitted his report.

“We all agreed to extend the deadline for the submission of the report to the 4th of July 2014, after which we will then deliberate and produce a report with recommendations to the Zifa board,” Homela told the association’s official website, www.zifa.org.zw <http://www.zifa.org.zw/>.

Other members of the committee include Misheck Chidzambwa, Charles “Raw Meat’’ Sibanda and Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu.
