THE Collin Nyabadza Trust, through their United States of America partners, donated football equipment to the Luveve Junior Academy. The brief ceremony was held at a city hotel on Thursday. The football equipment comprised 10 soccer balls and a brand new football kit.

Present at the event were three representatives from the trust, Siqubumthetho Dube, Sibonekuhle Ndlovu and Malaki Ndlovu.

Dube said they made the donation in order to tackle the problem of poverty through sport.

“We’re working hand in hand with partners in order to try and eradicate the problem of sport poverty which has had a negative impact on the quality of sportspersons in our country,” he said.

Dube said the trust has been involved in numerous activities aimed at helping schools especially in the rural areas in developing  and grooming talented but disadvantaged pupils.

“As a trust we thrive on promoting sports development in schools focusing on the rural areas who don’t have enough resources for the pupils to use,” said Dube.

Dube invited interested parties that want to join their cause to come forward and make Zimbabwe a better sporting nation.

“We’re inviting and appealing to the corporate world that might share the same cause with our organisation to come and join us in our move to develop sport in the country,” said Dube.

The Collin Nyabadza Trust last year donated kits for both boys and girls and soccer balls to Whitewater Secondary School, Tjewondo Secondary School and Luveve Junior Academy.

Ervans Netha, the director and coach of Luveve Junior Academy, said they will remain grateful for the donations they received.

“We’re very grateful with the support we’ve received from the trust, their equipment will help us a lot and we’re lucky to have  people like them who care about the development of sports especially at grassroots level,” he said.
