A serial rapist serving a 19-year sentence at Khami Prison for rape and robbery has appeared in court facing four fresh counts of rape and robbery.
The notorious rapist from Old Pumula, Vusumuzi Sibanda, 31, reportedly pounced on a woman and her niece and raped the niece in the kitchen after locking the woman in her bedroom.

Sibanda is in jail for raping five people including a heavily pregnant woman.

He appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove facing fresh charges.

Prosecuting Viviana Chikomo told the court that on May 5 at a house in Northend the girl aged 14 was at home with her aunt when Sibanda attacked them.

“He asked for the keys to see people who stay at the main house since the woman and her niece stayed in the cottage. He then went into the cottage armed with a screw driver and kicked the woman before demanding money,” said Chikomo.

The woman said she did not have any and Sibanda called the girl who was in the bathroom and demanded cell phones.

Sibanda then locked the woman inside the bedroom and dragged the girl to the kitchen where he undressed and raped her. After the act, he locked the two in the bedroom and went away.

Sibanda allegedly proceeded to Paddonhurst where he met a woman whose house was under construction.

He asked for the contact numbers of the builders and the woman went into the house to look for the numbers. When she came out she found Sibanda armed with an okapi knife and he demanded to know where the woman’s husband was.

He forced the woman into the house and locked her together with two daughters aged four and five months old in a wardrobe while he ransacked the house.

He later came back and opened the wardrobe and allegedly raped the woman from behind.

Sibanda locked the woman again and left, taking a suitcase full of clothes, plates, groceries and kitchen ware.
