A POLICE officer from Pumula Police Station has offered $50 for the upkeep of his minor child.

Ms Moreen Zikhali dragged her ex-boyfriend Brian Sibanda to the Maintenance Court for the upkeep of their minor child aged three.

Sibanda appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Sheunesu Matova where he offered $50 for child support.

“I am not married but I have another child who depends on me. I get a net salary of $280 because I am paying for a loan that I took.

“I also have other expenses. I am offering $50 for the upkeep of my child,” he said.

Ms Zikhali was demanding $100.

“I am applying for maintenance because he is not taking care of his child. I am unemployed and it’s difficult to take care of the child alone. I need at least $100 considering the child will be attending school soon,” she said.

Mr Matova ordered Sibanda to pay $60.

“You are hereby ordered to pay $60 for the upkeep of one minor child until the child is 18 years or is self sustaining,” he said. — @YUshamba
