GWERU’s Guinea Fowl High School maintained their dominance when they retained the provincial Copa Coca-Cola Under-15 boys’ crown during a tournament held at Chaplin High School yesterday.

Guinea Fowl, who are used by Premiership side FC Platinum as a breeding ground for talent, walloped Munyati High School 3–0 in the final.

The two schools had earlier met in the group stages with Guinea Fowl thrashing Munyati 4-0.

Yesterday’s victory was Guinea Fowl’s third consecutive Copa Coca-Cola title.

The victors’ Tanyaradzwa Mafukire was named player of the tournament, while teammate Tadiwanashe Murasirwa emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with eight goals.

Munyati High’s Obert Marakura was voted goalkeeper of the tournament.

George Chipadza Secondary of Zvishavane surprised all and sundry by claiming their first provincial title in the girls’ category by beating Gokwe South’s Hovano High School 4–3 on penalties.

The game had ended nil-all in regulation time.

George Chipadza coach Ndakadyei Maidza was over the moon after the win.

“I am so excited by the win. It is a challenge for us now and we now have to go the extra mile and work hard so that we can do well at the national finals,” Maidza said.
