TWO Mzilikazi High School players Gift Lunga (third) and Shadreck Nyahwa have made it into the 20-member Copa Coca-Cola Dream Team that will tour Kenya later this year.Lunga (third) is the son of former Bosso left back, Gift Lunga Jnr.

The duo were instrumental in leading the Bulawayo school which was making a return to national finals after a long absence. They finished fourth in the boys’ Under-16 finals held in Harare on Saturday.

“We knew that this time around we were going to contribute a sizeable number to the Copa Coca-Cola Dream Team because the talent that we have is one of the best in Bulawayo.

“As a school we are happy to be churning out talent which is what Mzilikazi has been known for.  We are grateful to soccer clubs within our province who have identified most of these players and nurtured them as they play football throughout the year,” said Bhekokuhle Dube, the Mzilikazi headmaster.

Sports journalists and soccer experts picked the most outstanding players who will represent the country at the continental competition bankrolled by Coca-Cola with the boys going to Kenya while the girls’ 17 years and under team will compete in Zambia.

Just like Mzilikazi, 2012 Copa Coca-Cola champions Mzingwane had midfielder Marvin Sibanda and Brilliant Ncube making it to the Dream Team.

Champions Chemhanza High School of Wedza, Mashonaland East contributed four players which is the highest number. They had the finals’ posterboy Tatenda Tumba, goalkeeper Tanyaradzwa Kaviya, midfielder Tinashe Vandira and Thulani Mbava.

Losing finalists Oriel Boys High of Harare who were beaten 2-0 by Chemhanza, Mkondwa who played with nine players from the first round to getting bronze and Pamushana each contributed three players with Mutare, Churchill and Vimbai having a player each.

In the girls’ category, Magwegwe High School who were making their maiden appearance at the finals going all the way to win bronze have three players Buhlebenkosi Zulu, Mitchel Ngwenya and Sibusisiwe Ncube making it for the Copa Coca-Cola Dream Team that will compete in Zambia.

Methembe Ndlovu and Thubelihle Ndlovu from Matabeleland South’s Mzimuni are part of the 20 girls’ squad.
