A BULAWAYO couple has taken a Harare travel agency to court for swindling it of more than $12 000 in air tickets and itinerary after embarking on a holiday trip to Cuba.

Mr Edgar Mhere and his wife Maria filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court citing League Tours and Travel and its owners, Gideon Bosha and Pamela Bosha as the defendants.

In their application, through lawyers, Moyo and Nyoni Legal Practitioners, the Mheres are seeking an order compelling League Tours and Travel and its owners to refund them $12 638 with interest calculated at a rate of five percent from the date of summons to the date of full payment.

According to court papers, between January 2015 and June 2016, the couple approached the defendants intending to make bookings for tickets to fly to Cuba and the holiday itinerary for their trip. “The defendants confirmed to the plaintiffs that they operated a travel agency and they received $12 638 from the plaintiffs,” said the plaintiffs’ lawyers.

The couple, after making alternative arrangements to return to the country, demanded a refund but the defendants have failed or neglected to refund the money.

Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese ordered the travel agency to refund the money. “It is ordered that judgment with costs at an attorney-client scale be and hereby granted for the plaintiff, as against the defendants, in the sum of $12 638 together with interest at five percent per annum from September 13, 2016 to date of full payment,” ruled the judge.
