Uganda are expected in the country today for a friendly match against Zimbabwe’s Warriors scheduled for the National Sports Stadium tomorrow. The Cranes will provide the Warriors with a good preparatory match ahead of the Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi this Saturday. Last week, Zimbabwe coach Callisto Pasuwa named a strong squad for the tie and the players were expected top start trooping into camp yesterday.

Zimbabwe lead Group L with eight points with two matches remaining in the qualifiers. Swaziland and Guinea who clash in another encounter are tied on five points. The Warriors are expected to have their first training session this morning. Pasuwa will only have to sample his squad tomorrow in the international friendly match against Uganda.

The Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic yesterday named a 19 man squad that arrives in Zimbabwe today en route to Botswana where they face the Zebras in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Federations of Uganda Football Associations have already sent their advance team to Zimbabwe led by the association’s Finance Director Decolas Kiiza. Micho’s squad has German-based player Melvyn Lorenzen who has been training with the team since joining from his club Weder Bremen.

The Cranes who will fly aboard Ethiopian Airlines, will be joined in Harare today by goalkeeper Denis Onyango, Tonny Mawejje and Yassar Mugerwa who had assignments with their foreign teams yesterday.

Ethiopia-based stars goalkeeper Robert Odongkara and defender Isaac Isinde will link up with the team via Addis Ababa before connecting to Zimbabwe.
