BULAWAYO Athletics Club bowler David Bryan and Mark Fieldus are through to the pairs final of the Zimbabwe national bowls tournament which is under way in Bulawayo.  The two beat the Zimbabwe bowls veteran Denis Streak and Jono Evans 18-15 in the semi-finals.

The pairs have been very competitive as all the teams accumulated 10 points in their section matches.
Streak and Bryan Ray were winners of the nationals tournament from 2008 to 2011 but

Bryan and Bryan Ray last won the nationals in 2012.

“I have been playing bowling for the past nine years and I must admit that this tournament has been very competitive, it is not common to have all teams on 10 points.

“We are going for the gold tomorrow and I am happy that we never lost a game in our section matches,” said Bryan yesterday.

David Bryan has won two gold medals and three silver medals in his nine years of bowling and hasrepresented Zimbabwe at the World Singles Champion of Champions tournament.

Bryan broke the record when he scooped a gold medal at the World Singles which had 26 countries across the globe competing.
Bryan and Fieldus are expected to play the Namibians who also won their semi-final match against Gweru who they defeated by four shots.

The tournament is being played at three different venues – Bulawayo Bowling Club, Bulawayo Athletics Club and Hillside Bowling Club.
In the women’s category Old Miltonians Mel James and Jane Rigby are through to the finals in the pairs.

Old Miltonians had an overall aggregate of 83 and are expected to take on Olly Baker and Boni Van Heerden who also won their semi-final match.

James and Rigby who are also the Africa States silver medallists did not drop a game and went on to win their section in the national and  are confident they will do well in the final this morning.

“We were over the moon on the greens with our fine combination in most of our matches which we really enjoyed. We are now hoping for a good result this morning,” said James.
