DYNAMOS FC supporters have come out in full support of their retired skipper Memory Mucherahowa who tore into ailing legendary footballer George Shaya last week.

The supporters also blasted former defender Stanley Chirambadare for his attack on Mucherahowa after accusing him of being a sellout and disrespectful to the club’s seniors.

Mwendamberi, as Mucherahowa was known during his hey days at DeMbare, accused Shaya of giving them soup while he (Shaya) ate the meat after the five times Soccer Star of the Year allegedly misappropriated $16 million that the club had received for reaching the 1998 Caf Champions League final. Mucherahowa said Shaya (who was club chairman then) even went on to fine them $5,000 each after they demanded their share of the cake.

But in a dramatic turn of events, his former teammate, Chirambadare, came to the defence of Shaya and used the opportunity to blame Dynamos’ defeat to Asec Mimosa on Mucherahowa’s unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“Now for Memory to come out ranting that Shaya ‘ate the meat and gave them soup’, he forgets that he had said he wanted to concentrate on playing, and he gave the duo of Lloyd Hove and Leslie Gwindi an opportunity to scheme things! They managed to trick Shaya and him, Mucherahowa because as club captain he was privy to the goings-on. And from the way I see it now, he must have been promised ‘something’ which never came after all. And to prove my point, look now, he is fighting the wrong man. Not only a wrong man but a man who is sick as we speak. This is uncalled for and shows lack of respect to our seniors,” wrote Chirambadare.

Some DeMbare fans however, seem to have bought Mucherahowa’s version of events and blasted Chirambadare for trying to protect administrators who enrich themselves at the expense of players.

“People like Chirambadare should keep quiet, their play was just average and were toyed around by youngsters like Peter Ndlovu. Memory left a legacy in the team,” said Fianos Musinavanhu on the pro-Dynamos Facebook site DeMbare.Com.

Nicholas Mukundidza said people must take blame for their wrongs.

“It’s the player who makes DeMbare what it is but they are the least rewarded, people don’t pay their money to watch executives of the team but players. Mucherahowa deserves respect and has every right to air his grievances,” he said.

Another Dynamos fan Timothy Zimuto said the bad things that were done should be said and there was nothing wrong with what Mucherahowa said.

“If someone does something bad it should be said whether the person is sick or even dead. What is bad is bad, let’s be realistic, there is nothing to hide, the so-called Dynamos former members are so greedy, this is why this club never improves financially. Mucherahowa is very right and remember he was the captain of the historic squad that went as far as the Champions League final. What did Shaya and company do with the money? Mucherahowa we are behind you,” said Zimuto.
