Ngezi Platinum 0 – 0 Dynamos

NGEZI Platinum coach Tonderai Ndiraya said he was a happy man after his side collected a point from fading Harare giants Dynamos in this Castle Lager Premiership tie at Baobab yesterday.

Ndiraya felt that, after a run of two straight defeats, a point against the most successful team in the country was something which he needed to value.

“Overally, I am happy to be quite honest,” Ndiraya told SuperSport.

“Before the game I told my boys today we are playing not to lose the match and that is exactly what we did.

“It is not pleasing to drop two points at home but look this is Dynamos we are talking about.

“I am happy with the point and it will give us confidence going forward.

“We were in control of the game, of course there were some moments when they came at us but our defence stood resolute and I think it will give us confidence, remember we are coming from two defeats and to get a draw, I am happy with that.

“I will take that, go home and sleep.”

The former Dynamos coach said his club have already surpassed expectations since he arrived to take over a stricken ship.

“Our first priority was to survive relegation, then we are going to wait, we will still wait for opportunities if they are presented, why not take them but at the moment we are still fighting to survive, but if the teams above us drop points and we gain more then why not revise our targets?” said Ndiraya.

Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa rued the chances they wasted.

“I think like I have said before, we wanted three points. We had some chances in the first half and second half, some slight chances, but we failed to convert, so if you cannot score, you cannot get three points,” said Mutasa.

The gaffer was hoping for some consistency, in terms of winning, after his men beat Harare City 2-1 in their last match.

“Obviously, not getting a goal, not getting three points, with where we are it is a dent as we would have loved to win all our remaining matches but such is football,” said Mutasa.

“It is not good enough but Dynamos is not the first institution to go through such a patch.

“We will go back and fight for the next points.”

Although Ngezi Platinum were enjoying better ball possession for large periods of the game, Dynamos had some good chances, especially towards the end of the first half.

Masimba Mambare’s shot was saved by Ngezi goalkeeper Chris Mverechena while Takunda Sadiki’s header was also blocked.

Dynamos defender Godknows Murwira’s cross was a shade too slow while Denver Mukamba also had his effort saved.

Mukamba had his trademark move into enemy territory in the second half beating Talent Chamboko only for his shot to hit the side netting.

The hosts’ best chances fell to forwards James Nguluve and Talent Chamboko but they could not beat goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva.
