SOUTH Africa-based Zimbabwean kwaito artiste Diliza (real name Delaney Dondo) will be heading to Bulawayo in the next two weeks for an Independence Day show.The artiste who is signed under the popular Kalawa Jazzmee stable is set to perform at Horizon Night Club on April 18.

Better known as the voice behind the 2013 Alaska hits Shacker Mntwana and Kalawa GP, which when played at local nightspots send revellers wild on the dance floor, Diliza has also featured on tracks by Spikiri, Professor, Bongo Maffin, T’zozo and Character.

He will be joined on the Horizon stage by Kwabatsha of the Bhatshi fame, DJs Skaiva, Black Cee, Kead Weaked, Joe tha OG, Lacusto, Que Bass and Nospa.

Speaking from South Africa, Diliza promised a night filled with music saying revellers should prepare to dance themselves to a standstill.

“People should be ready to be mesmerised as they’ll have a night they’ll never forget. I’ve been itching to perform in my hometown for a long time,” Diliza said.

The Luveve born musician who formed a group — Stiff, which is slowly making a name at Kalawa Jazzmee records after it featured on Professor’s album, University of Kalawa Jazzmee — 1918-2013 campus, said he would have loved to bring his group to the Bulawayo show but could not do so because of logistical issues.

“I would’ve loved for the people at home to feel the energy that we have with my group but this will not be possible because of the logistics. God willing, next time I’ll come with them,” he said.

Show organiser, DJ Joe the OG, said they were bringing Diliza because he was a local musician who has made it big in South Africa but had not performed in his own country.

“Diliza is a big artiste in Mzansi and he hasn’t done a solo show in the city. He performed here last year with the Kalawa crew and Stiff. We want him to be known by Bulawayo fans,” DJ Joe said.
