THE Zifa Southern Region leadership has been urged to release Division One fixtures on time for the purposes of planning by the clubs’ technical teams and administration.

Clubs claimed they had been getting fixtures two days before a match and this was affecting their planning, in terms of travelling logistics as well as the technical aspect.

“Can you imagine getting a fixture on Thursday or Friday, how do you plan? Last week we had to phone the Zifa offices for us to get our fixture and that is not a good way of running football. Some of us are sponsored by organisations, which are run by people who have little or no interest in football and for us to start telling them of a fixture in Victoria Falls a day before does not portray a good image,” said one club administrator.

He said it would be proper for the league management to give them all fixtures for the first half of the season so that they work on logistics early.

Zifa Southern Region chairman Musa Mandaza conceded that there has been a slight glitch due to the confusion surrounding Trumus and Quelaton that were expelled from the league.

“The reason we have not been giving them fixtures on time is really to do with those few teams that had been giving us problems, Trumus and Quelaton, but that has since been sorted out. I am sure by the end of the day tomorrow, all our clubs and the media, would have received our revised programme,” said Mandaza.
