TRIBAL house DJs Djembe Monks, iTribe and the Raisedon Baya written play The Taking will be showcased at the week-long Harare Festival of the Arts (Hifa) taking place from April 28 to May 3.

This year’s festival themed “Articulate” will once again be a mixture of music, dance, spoken word, theatre and craft from local and international artistes.

The Taking will be shown at the Standard Theatre on the first day of the festival as part of the BancABC programme.

Afro Fusion group iTribe that comprises Thandy Dhlana, XMile and Zet Moyo will perform at a free show on the Coca Cola Green stage on April 30. Tribal house DJs and drummers Djembe Monks will be at the same venue on May 2.

Due to its popularity, Stand Up Comedy is back again with Q the Boss, Simba The Comic King, Ntando van Moyo, Comrade Fatso, Doc Vikela, Long John and Michael K cracking ribs on April 30 and May 2.

Multi-award winning dancehall musician, Buffalo Souljah will debut at the festival as he has been added onto this year’s programme. He will perform at the “Dance Hall Mash Up” on April 30. The South Africa-based musician will be joined on stage by Seunononga hit-maker Guspy Warrior and serial award-winning female chanter, Kaakie from Ghana.

South Africa’s pop band – Beatenberg will perform on May 1 on the Golden Pilsner Day. Malian Afro Pop musician Salif Keita will shut down Hifa with mbira diva Hope Masike at the ZOL main stage on the last day of the festival.

Other local acts performing at the international fete are, Tariro neGitare, Eve Kawadza, Victor Kunonga, BaShupi, Peekay and DJs Naida and Ray Dizz as well as foreigners True Vibenation (Australia), M.anIfest (Ghana), Global Resonance (Senegal), Perfect Frication (Ireland), Lula Pena, (Portugal), Walter Klauss (America) and DJ Juri and Jenaguru (Japan).
