A DOG chewing on human flesh led to the discovery of the decomposing body of a Gwanda man, nine days after his death. Details of what transpired were still sketchy yesterday but sources suspect that Major Ndlovu (48) died on his way from visiting his grandfather in Jahunda suburb on July 10.

Sources close to the family said a passerby saw a dog feeding on what looked like a human limb.

They said the dog ran into an abandoned house and came back with more flesh as the passerby watched. The unnamed passerby investigated leading to the discovery of Ndlovu’s body in an advanced state of decomposition.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Philisani Ndebele yesterday said investigations into the issue were underway.

“ We can confirm the body of the deceased Major Ndlovu (48) was discovered in Jahunda suburb last week. He had visited his grandfather, David Ndlovu of House Number 56 Jahunda on the 10th of July and he left the house going back to his place of residence,” said Insp Ndebele.

He said the body was discovered in a disused house in the suburb, in an advanced state of decomposition.

“The informant saw a dog coming out of the disused house chewing something. He became inquisitive and went into the house to investigate and discovered Ndlovu’s body in an advanced state of decomposition and reported the matter to the police,” he said

Insp Ndebele said police told Ndlovu’s grandfather about the death and he collected the body.
