DStv’s Lifetime (Channel 131) – an entertaining and uplifting television channel  – will on Sunday evening showcase the African premiere of Whitney, a bio movie based on the singer’s life.In preparation for the much-anticipated biopic, MultiChoice will from February 20 to 23 give all its subscribers access to the Lifetime channel which is usually a preserve for their premium subscribers so as to enable everyone to celebrate Whitney Houston’s life.

This month marks the third year since the iconic singers’ death. Directed by award-winning actress Angela Bassett in her directorial debut, Whitney chronicles the headline-making relationship between the singer aptly nicknamed “The Voice” and her husband, Bobby Brown. From the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity status, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage.

Throughout Whitney’s life, difficulties followed the couple while they dealt with the overwhelming rewards and consequences of the fame and fortune created by Whitney’s meteoric rise to superstardom.

Whitney is known for many multi award-winning hits such as Greatest Love of All; Saving All my Love for You; I will Always Love You; Where do Broken Hearts go? (vocally performed by Grammy-winning artiste Deborah Cox in the biopic) and the smash hit on her last album, I Look to you, among others.

“With this month marking the third anniversary since the death of iconic singer, actress, producer and model Whitney Houston, all DStv subscribers will have an opportunity to celebrate her life and music when Lifetime showcases the African premiere of Whitney, a bio movie based on the singer’s life. The much-anticipated biopic will air on February 22 at 8PM,” DStv Zimbabwe public relations and publicity manager, Liz Dziva said.

“Subscribers who don’t normally have access to this DStv Premium channel will be engaged and inspired by Lifetime’s winning formula of quality scripted dramas, Lifetime Original Movies and factual entertainment shows.”

Other movies and shows which viewers will be able to watch on the three days include A Day Late and a Dollar Short (February 22 at 5PM), Married at First Sight (February 22 at 10PM), and Preachers’ Daughters (February 20 at 9.35PM).

Dziva said in order to gain non-stop access to the Lifetime channel, viewers would have to upgrade their bouquets to DStv Premium as free access will close at 10PM on February 23.
