Aaron Dube in Johannesburg, South Africa
FORMER Highlanders central striker Cleopas Dube says his main priority at South African National First Division side Witbank Spurs is to help the team win the championship at the end of the season.
The newly acquired striker believes his debut goal on Sunday against Highlands Park when they lost 2-1 in Makhulong Stadium, Ekurhuleni, opened doors for many to come.

He believes that he is ready to play in the unfashionable league. It was the former Bosso player’s full game in the NFD after coming in as a substitute in their last game when they thrashed Cape Town All Stars 2-0 and created the team’s second goal.

Dube told Chronicle Sport: “I came here with high hopes not only of enjoying playing football but to take the team to another level.

“The team has high quality facilities and their management is always supportive. There is only one thing I have to do for them to repay their faith they have shown me,” said Dube.

His ambition is to at least score a goal in each game he plays and become the top goal scorer in his debut season which he says is possible.

Dube’s team will be playing at Puma Rugby Stadium in Mpumalanga against Limpopo-based side Black Leopards on Sunday afternoon.

There are no Absa Premiership games this weekend as all eyes will be in Durban when Kaizer Chiefs battle it out in the MTN Top 8 Cup final with their perennial rivals Orlando Pirates in Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.
