IT never rains but pours for Harare giants Dynamos who after being shocked 1-0 by new kids on the block ZPC (Kariba) in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, were yesterday locked out of their training base, Zimphos.
The reigning league champions are said to be owing about $7,200 which has been accumulating in the last 12 months.
“They did not train today (yesterday) because of the $7,200 debt they owe to the owners of the training venue, Zimphos, on top of the groundsman’s money,” said a source close to the Harare giants.

The team manager Richard Chihoro denied being locked out saying they only had a light training for 30 minutes only to loosen up.
“We just did light training for half an hour, just to do some stretching. It’s not true that we were locked out,” said Chihoro who could not however, confirm nor deny the debt.

Impeccable sources though said Chihoro was given $1,200 yesterday by a member of the executive but the money was said to have been rejected by Zimphos who said it was an insult, considering the amount involved.

“It’s rather embarrassing that a team like Dynamos can fail to pay for ground rentals. The problem is that there is too much behind the scenes politics at our club, we have people who have a lot of personal interest instead of club interests. This whole saga is meant to eventually have Callisto Pasuwa fired but how, we wonder,” said the source.

The Dynamos house is forever rocked by factionalism and back biting. Recently vice chairman and former coach, David Mandigora wrote a letter to the board begging for Pasuwa’s job, even suggesting a salary of $1,200.

It is also believed that a new board could be announced this week with Benard Lusengo Marriot set to be among the casualties. He is among the founding fathers of the club but seems to have fallen out of favour with some sections of the institution.

At Morrison Sifelani’s burial, Marriot said sacking the principled and knowledgeable former club chairman in 1975 had sown the seeds for discord at DeMbare.
