AFRO-Jazz musician Selmor Mtukudzi will be raising awareness on elephant conservation on Sunday when she showcases the local Elephant Dress at the inaugural Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards (TAGMA) in South Africa.

The awards taking place at the State Theatre in Pretoria will feature Benjamin Dube, Mabongi Mabaso, Mahalia Buchanan, Shongwe, Zanele Mbokazi Uche, James Okon and Enkay Joe Mettle Daddy Owen, Isabella and Reverend Chivaviro of the Ebenezer fame.

Designer of the wildlife conservation dress, Thembani Mubochwa said Mtukudzi would catwalk on the TAGMA red carpet clad in the avant-garde dress.

“The dress makes its debut on the international stage this weekend as we’ll be pushing the agenda about conserving our elephants,” said Mubochwa.

The dress was launched in February in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate and Mtukudzi was made ambassador because of her totem – elephant. Mubochwa had been inspired to design the dress after the continuous poaching of wildlife in Zimbabwe, especially elephants.
