THERE will be entertainment galore at the 21st February Movement celebrations tomorrow with up-and-coming arts groups being presented with a rare opportunity to perform before the First Family at the Great Zimbabwe monuments.

Zanu PF youth secretary for administration, Luis Matutu, said a number of entertainment groups have been lined up to perform on the important occasion, but much emphasis will be given to upcoming local groups.

Zion Christian Church’s Brass band, which has become the darling of President Mugabe and renowned artistes like Jah Prayzah, are expected to grace the occasion.

“We’ve lined up traditional groups from across Masvingo province as well as dance and musical groups whom we want to showcase their talents before the First Family.

“ZCC Brass band will be the main act because President Robert Mugabe enjoys their performances,” said Matutu.

After the bash at the monuments, there will be an after party at Mucheke Stadium where entertainment groups will party with revellers until late. Some of the artistes who will perform at the after party include Extra Large, Souljah Love, Killer T, Constance Maraire and King Shaddy.

Matutu said the party would be an opportunity for those artistes whose careers have taken a dip to revive them.

“We want to give an opportunity to artistes like Sugar Sugar whose careers have taken a knock. He’s a talented artiste whose songs are pregnant with national meaning about where we’re coming from as a nation.

“We’ll be celebrating the life of an icon and the songs sang on the day should be reflective of the calibre of President Mugabe.”
