ZIMBABWE National Hockey team Eradicators player Prince Mwale held a schools hockey training clinic at Kumalo Hockey stadium yesterday. About 100 pupils from different schools namely Masiyephambili Primary, Baines Junior Primary School, Milton High and Primary School, SOS Primary School, Townsend and Evelyn Girls High School attended the event.

Mwale said the clinic was focused on teaching the youngsters the basic fundamentals of hockey while having fun.

“The clinic was focused on equipping the pupils with the basic skills and rules to play hockey, we tried our best to show the interesting aspects of the game. The level of participation showed that Bulawayo has got youngsters who are eager to learn the sport but might not be exposed to training facilities,” said Mwale.

He said communication was key to reaching out to the youngsters and developing hockey at grassroots level.
