ZIFA were yesterday stunned by revelations that participants who attended a Caf C coaching licence course in October last year had their certificates backdated by a month.

The documents seen by Chronicle Sport are dated September 30, 2015, despite the course being held in Hwange from October 19-30.

“I’m just trying to understand what could have happened because it just does not make any sense at all. How do we have a course in October but the certificate stamped a month before? I will immediately write to Caf,” said the Zifa acting technical director Mike Ngore.

He refused to comment on possible fraudulent activities following reports that the Zifa executive committee has actually started investigating how Caf coaching certificates were being awarded in the last couple of years.

“Zifa is concerned with reports that some of the certificates could be fake. Investigations should be commencing shortly on that,” said a Zifa executive committee member.

Ngore said Caf sends all certificates to the technical director who is supposed to check for any errors before delivering them to the recipients.

Suspended Takendesa Jongwe was the technical director at the time.

“Maybe he never realised the error but what I know is that Caf sent all the certificates for last year in one bunch. Like I said, I will have to find out from Caf how this error came about,” said Ngore.

Emailed questions to Caf director of football development Abdel Moneim Hussein had not been responded at the time of going to press.

Meanwhile, Dynamos assistant coach Murape Murape attended his Caf C coaching licence course at One Commando in Harare in September last year.

The course was conducted by Jongwe and Samson Mavenyengwa and other participants of the course include Kingstone Rinemota, Steward Murisa, Partson Ndabambi, Naison Muchekela, Rowan Nenzou and Luis Majo.
