FORMER Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Professor Callistus Ndlovu has bounced back, as the province suspended 40 Youth League members.

Prof Ndlovu and his executive members who were suspended from the party in 2014 were readmitted following a recent Central Committee resolution.

Cde Dennis Ndlovu, who had assumed the party’s provincial chairman, yesterday confirmed that he had stepped down and Prof Ndlovu had taken over the leadership position.

He said the province agreed on the latest development at a meeting held on Sunday at Davies Hall.

“He assumed the position after all the provincial executive members and those who were fired from the party in 2014 were re-admitted into the party. So we thought it was a good thing that they retain the posts they held before their expulsion in line with Central Committee resolutions,” said Cde Ndlovu.

In a statement yesterday, the Zanu-PF Provincial Youth League executive said 40 youths had been suspended during the provincial meeting.

“Due to the recent positive events of plucking out corrupt elements and the G40 cabal within our revolutionary party Zanu-PF it is with a heavy heart for us as the Bulawayo provincial executive to note that even with the dawn of the new era and the unity our President has called for some comrades are still pursuing factional and personal agendas that threaten to divide our revered party Zanu-PF ahead of the pending general elections,” reads the statement.

“Our party leaders have advised us to reverse the purges that had been threatening to destroy our party but unfortunately it seems the same G40 behaviour is being exhibited and continued when purges against democratically elected members were illegally conducted in Bulawayo Province on Sunday the 26th of November where the whole provincial executive was purged which is against our president’s and war veterans’ call for peace and unity as we build a better Zimbabwe.”

On Monday, Zanu-PF national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo warned provinces against holding unsanctioned meetings and purging of some party members.

He said provinces should not suspend or expel members until the party conducts its extraordinary congress next month.
