Nigeria international midfielder John Obi Mikel does not believe the arrival of Spaniard Cesc Fabregas will sound the death knell to his Chelsea career.
Fabregas joined Chelsea for £27 million on a five-year deal from Barcelona on June 21 and will bolster Jose Mourinho’s midfield for the 2014/15 campaign.
Mikel struggled to get into the Chelsea squad in the latter stages of the 2013/14 season with Serbian star, Nemanja Matic, emerging as Mourinho’s preferred choice in midfield.

The arrival of Fabregas is expected to further limit playing time for the Nigerian who however insists that will not be the case.
“I don’t have any problem with Cesc arriving at Chelsea. I have played against Cesc a lot of times. Besides we don’t even play in the same position,” Mikel said.
The former Lyn Oslo man has been severally linked with a move to 18-time Serie A champions, Inter Milan, but he insists his immediate plans remain staying at Chelsea.

“I have been at Chelsea for a very long time. It’s my home. Obviously, I am Nigerian but Chelsea is my home away from home.
“In football, you can never predict. You can never predict what’s going to happen.

“At the minute, I am very happy at Chelsea. I still want to remain at Chelsea.
“I have three years left in my contract. I want to stay for another three years or even more. But in football, you can never decide. You just have to wait.
“So I want to say congratulations to Cesc on his move to Chelsea. I look forward to working with him,” he said.

Mikel, 27, joined Chelsea in 2006 and has since made over 200 league appearances for the London club. — supersport.com
