THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has advised job seekers to ignore WhatsApp messages that have gone viral on the social networking platform claiming that the organisation was embarking on a massive recruitment drive for 2015.The advice follows a huge turnout by scores of job seekers at some ZPCS offices on Monday in response to a hoax jobs advertisement on the social networking platform.

In a statement, ZPCS distanced itself from the messages.

“There’s been information circulating on social media to the effect that Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) is to conduct a mass recruitment exercise in January, 2015.

“ZPCS would like to put it on record that no such exercise is taking place. In the event of a recruitment exercise being conducted, the organisation advertises in traditional media such as newspapers, television and radio,” read the statement.

The fake message read: “If you have a relative interested in joining the prison service he/she must apply to the Director of Training, the department of training, ZPCS HQ Bag CY 7718 Causeway, Harare, or the Commandant Ntabazinduna Training School Bag G5088”.

“Mass recruitment in January, 5 O’levels including English 18-30 years will advise of the dates just apply now if interested”.

ZPCS also urged job seekers to be wary of bogus recruiting agents.

“The ZPCS would like to warn members of the public to be wary of some individuals who might masquerade as ZPCS recruitment officers with the intention of fleecing them of their money,” added the statement.
