MORE than 60 captains of industry and amateur golfers will tee off in the third edition of the Firetech golf tournament at Harry Golf Club tomorrow.

The tournament is being held in conjunction with Masiyephambili Junior School who will also be fundraising for their various school projects.

The leading engineering company’s general manager Lovemore Ndebele said the tournament will be an ideal event for business synergies to be struck.

“Besides presenting the Firetech brand to the captains of industry, we feel this is also a perfect opportunity to give back to the community that we serve, in the process promoting the sport of golf in the region,” said Ndebele.

The general manager said they will use the tournament to also raise awareness about the dangers of fire if one is poorly equipped, be it at home or at work.

He said they will use a four ball better ball format.

Four ball better ball is a match pitting two teams of two players (a total of four balls being played, hence the name) against each other using better ball scoring.

All players play their own ball throughout and at the end of each hole, the low score between the two partners on each team is that team’s score.

Some of the players expected to take to the greens are Lorraine Huwa, Acy Zerf, Rodnah Mutasa in the ladies’ section while Kwangwari Kwangwari, Moses Nzapu , Jabulani Nkomo, former Highlanders chairmen Themba Ndlela and Roger Muhlwa and former Zimbabwe Saints player and coach Ebson Sugar Muguyo will compete in the men’s section.
