MPOPOMA Pirates will be hoping to continue with their fine run in the Bulawayo Province Division Two league when they date second placed CIWU in a potentially explosive encounter at Eveline High School this afternoon.

Pirates go into the game coming from a confidence boosting 2-1 derby victory over Ajax Hotspurs. The win got Pirates in a good position on the table, fourth with 39 points from 21 games, nine points off the top.

CIWU beat Lobengula Stars 3-1 in their preceding game, as they mounted pressure on table toppers Toronto who lead by two points.

Pirates head coach, Nkosilathi Nkomo has made it clear that his team is gunning for the title and a win against one of their title rivals will place them in a better position. Tinashe Magaya, Arthur Ndlovu and  striker Phumuzile Majola have carried the weight for the team this season. They will be banking on the trio to get them the three points today.

CIWU beat Pirates 3-0 in the first leg but coach Kudzie Mhandire is wary of the Pirates’ threat.

“It is a difficult game. Pirates have been collecting points, they are a good side and I personally respect them. But we are in this league to compete and that is what we are going to do. l hope the boys will be up to the task and hopefully we get three points,” said Mhandire.
