SECURITY firm Peace Security (Pvt) Ltd has come up with a street patrol service that will tighten security in residential, industrial and commercial areas.
The patrol service offered is in the form of foot, bicycle or motorised patrol depending on individual preferences and their budget.
According to Peace Security, the service is not just another neighbourhood watch scheme as highly trained, patrol teams will be provided.
Peace Security operations executive Mr Thomas Imedi said one of the critical elements of the new service was its affordability.
“The service is a professional service in which neighbours contribute towards payment of security services, the whole idea of the service is to ensure that people are safe and secure at a minimal cost.
“For this service to work residents within the same street, for example, have to come together and make contributions which will go towards meeting the costs of the security services to be rendered.
“The major advantage of having such a service is that it is comparatively cheap, that is, instead of one person paying for the services of a security guard, residents can team up and share the total bill,” he said.
The standard cost of hiring a security guard for a month ranges between US$600 and US$700.
Mr Imedi added that although the patrol services are presently being carried out in residential areas as the service could also be extended to cover home industries or other commercial premises upon request.
Peace Security confirmed that its patrol teams are properly equipped in line with the specific requirements of the residents with guard dogs and/or firearms being made available if special arrangements are made.
Each security detail will also have a communication radio for constant communication with other patrol team members as well as the office if the need arises.
