THE First Lady Grace Mugabe has dismissed claims in some online media that deliberately misquoted her on Tuesday that she said she had a sex tape of Vice President Joice Mujuru.

An online publication ZimEye claimed that the First Lady told students who gathered at her children’s home in Mazowe on Monday that she “taped Mujuru when she was in her bedroom having her private intimate time with her husband while wearing a mini skirt”.

This was despite the fact that the First Lady only said she had video evidence of VP Mujuru backbiting her while inappropriately dressed when she was recorded.

The First Lady dismissed the reports when she addressed cross border traders who gathered at her Mazowe Children’s Home to endorse her elevation to the post of secretary for Women’s League at the Zanu-PF 6th National People’s Congress set for early next month.

“I said her dressing in front of a young man was inappropriate. I was not impressed especially for someone of her stature and the fact that they were alone, what message does that send to young people?” she said.

“That’s when I said she was inappropriately dressed, inappropriately attired. Displaying the thighs. That’s what I was not happy with and it’s not the first time to see her dressed like that. In real life I have seen her dressed like that.

“In Parliament women approached me about her dressing, saying they had talked to her but she persisted. I told the women that if they had discussed the matter woman-to-woman then I compliment them. That’s what I said. As for suggestions that she might be a woman of loose morals I don’t think so. She seems like a chaste woman. We don’t want people who spread lies.”

The First Lady said it was the Vice President’s tendency to wear mini skirts even when on official government business, something that was uncalled for, especially for an experienced old government official.

“She wears mini skirts. She must change her style of dressing. Even some of us who have attractive bodies don’t wear mini skirts that show our thighs, especially in front of children.

“As mothers who have young growing daughters what lessons do we pass on to them? That is all I was unhappy about,” she said.

Zanu-PF Midlands political commissar, Cde Makhosini Hlongwane who has been part of the First Lady’s “Meet the People Tours” throughout the country, said deliberately misquoting the First Lady was driven by malice.

“The deliberate falsification, distortion and the habit of writing with pen dipped in bile, when it comes to reporting on the First Lady by some sections of the media reached new levels of malice yesterday, when some online media lied that the First Lady had spoken, allegedly on sexual escapades by the Vice President Joice Mujuru while addressing students and National Youth Service graduates at her Mazowe Children’s Home on Monday,” he said.

“These desperate lies, hidden under a façade of independent journalism, speak volumes about how far the publications will go to do the Vice President’s bidding, in Zanu-PF’s internal conversation which is already determined by the people’s demands against her.”

The First Lady also spoke about how romantic President Mugabe was, saying his lyrics went straight to the heart.

She said President Mugabe also cared for his family, making it his routine practice to teach them Bible verses and checking on them before going to bed even when he gets home late.
