FORMER Miss Teen Bulawayo and up-and-coming musician Shanice Alaina Pullen is taking her music career a step further and will launch her debut music video in the city this weekend. The music video for her hit R’n’B song – Juice Box – will be launched at the Old Miltonians Sports Club (Ivy League) on Saturday evening.

Juice Box was released in January this year and later remixed by local DJ Prince a few months later. The remix, a fusion of dancehall and R’n’B, was an instant hit and has since been featured on various local radio stations’ hit-lists especially on ZiFM’s Bulawayo Top 10 Charts and on StarFM.

The 19-year-old songstress said she was looking forward to the video launch which she plans to use as a platform to promote tracks from her upcoming album Welcome to Me.

“I am excited to be launching my music video for Juice Box as this is a step in the right direction for my musical career. I will also give a sneak preview of my upcoming album by performing some of the tracks,” she said.

Alaina said she had plans to take her video to various television stations for airing.

“The music video will be sent to ZBCtv, Mtv Base, Channel O and Trace TV for them to air it. Before shooting the music video, we did our research on the requirements for music videos to be aired on various television stations and we recorded it according to the requirements,” she said.

Alaina said she had finished recording nine tracks and was left with recording three because Welcome to Me would be a 12-track album with tracks which people would relate to. Most songs are mostly about love and relationships.

The model, who was crowned Miss Teen Zimbabwe second princess in 2011, said her music career would not deter her from being a model as her ambition was to be a fashion model.

“I am no longer into beauty pageants as they are a waste of time and money.  I now prefer being a fashion model because it’s less taxing,” she said.
