Four-member golf team announced

A four member Zimbabwe women’s golf team to represent the country at the fifth Regional All-Africa Challenge Trophy (RAACT) at the Omeya Golf Estate in Windhoek, Namibia has been announced.The tournament runs from April 27-30.

Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union president Nancy Dube made the announcement through the latest ZLGU  newsletter.

“I’m pleased to announce the final team for the RAACT to be held in Namibia from April 23 to May 1 2015; Aulia Alfazem, seven handicap, 12-year-old Danielle Bekker, nine handicap, Loice Chingono, six handicap and Batsirai Tilowakuti, four handicap.

Congratulations to all the players who made it  and all the best in the tournament.  Keep the  Zimbabwe Flag flying high,” said Dube in her announcement.

The Zimbabwe quartet will be hoping to do well this time around in a tournament that has been largely dominated by South African ladies since its inception in Botswana in 2007.

The South Africans have won the tournament, featuring teams from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland, a record five times.

The format is 54-hole stroke play, with two scores to count towards the team score.

Regional All-Africa Challenge Trophy events are held biennially in West Africa, Southern Africa, North Africa and East/Central Africa and are financially supported by the Royal and Ancient of St Andrews (R&A).
