AS Miss World Zimbabwe Emily Kachote awaits her fate on Friday over leaked nude pictures, outraged Zimbabweans have taken to social media and challenged authorities to bring to book those behind the leak.

On Monday, Zimbabweans woke up to the news that nude pictures of the newly crowned Miss World Zimbabwe were being circulated on a Harare WhatsApp group Boyz Dzetonaz.

Kachote confirmed to our sister paper H-Metro that the nudes were taken a long time ago and she was drunk at the time. She now risks losing her crown when she meets with Miss Zimbabwe Trust on Friday.

It is alleged that she was dating two of the members of the group, one of whom shared the nude pictures in a bid to prove that he was the one who was dating her. It’s reported that the man was the same one who leaked nude pictures of last year’s ousted queen Thabiso Phiri, forcing her to step down for “personal reasons”.

Some people who last week were labelling Kachote ugly and unsuitable on social media were surprisingly eagerly looking for the nudes.

Twitter blogger @CynicHarare posted: “last week they were on that ‘Miss Zim is ugly’ bandwagon. But now salivating and demanding to see her nudes”.

Some like Star FM Radio presenter DJ Napstar were of the opinion that the men behind the leak should be investigated and face the full wrath of the law.

“I’m told that the guy who released the nudes for Miss Zim 2014 (Thabiso) is the same guy who released Miss Zim 2015 (Emily’s) nude pics – can anyone confirm this??..I’m told that that’s his mode of operation with his girlfriends. Emily’s photos look professional…this guy is producing porn!!! Or maybe he’s into human trafficking but either way he should be investigated,” Napstar posted on Facebook.

The post generated a lot of interest with some agreeing with DJ Napstar while others said Kachote was also at fault for agreeing to take the nudes.

Sir Knox Nocks Chatiza wrote: “The guy is not the problem, the girls are the problem, why sell your body in the first place. We all reap what we saw (sic), and they are just reaping what they sawed (sic). We are tired of women getting on-top using their body and then afterwards start talking of how professional they are whilst deep down they know they had to get dirty…Women should stop having Nude Pictures for any reason….for LOVE or for Favours.”

Mike Madoda posted: “Yes the women must shoulder responsibility, but the guy who distributed Miss Zimbabwe’s nude pics is nothing more than a porn-peddler.. he should be exposed and arrested”.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust spokesperson Tendai Chirau said they were going to sit down with Kachote on Friday when the chairperson Marry Chiwenga returns from her trip.

“We’re just waiting for the chairperson to return from her trip abroad. That’s when we’ll sit down with Emily and hear what she has to say. In the interim we’re still doing our own investigations. When we find out what transpired that’s when we shall make a decision on whether she can continue with her reign or dethrone her,” said Chirau.
