UP-AND-COMING hip-hop artiste Guluva 7 proved to be a force to reckon with at the jam session in Harare as he for the first time, performed with a live band.

Performing with a live band has been a challenge for most artistes but the Bulawayo rapper who had less than a day to rehearse with the Harare Talking Guitars band made it seem like a walk in the park.

“I only managed to rehearse once for the show with a live band. This was my first time performing with a live band and I must say, I loved it and know this was my best act,” said Guluva 7 who returned to the city on Wednesday.

“As I rehearsed, I appreciated my music more and became confident. That Harare band is nothing less of awesome.”
Most hip-hop artistes prefer performing with a digital set, but the experimental rapper said he wanted to show that he was different from the rest.

“Performing with a live band is very challenging, but I knew my potential and decided to give it a try. It paid off as the chemistry between me and the band members was electric,” said Guluva.

The artiste who wowed patrons with the performance of City of kings, a track about Bulawayo revealed plans to start using a live band for all his performances.

“As a result of this experience, I’m now planning to do live performances for all my tracks and hope that other hip-hop artistes in Zimbabwe will follow suit.”
