Gunners took the lead in the 52nd minute when Cliff Sekete headed in from close range as he connected a cross, whipped in from the left by Valentine Ndaba.

Sekete also crashed his head against the upright post and had to be attended to by the medical team while his teammates celebrated his goal.

Hardly had the celebrations died in the Gunners camp, when Sekete, who was back on the field, received the ball on the right flank to beat Tapuwa Khumbuyani before laying a low cross into the box.

William Munondo obliged by drilling the ball past goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda for Gunners’ second goal in the 53rd minute.

CAPS United’s world crumbled around them after letting in the two goals despite having dominated the greater part of the first half.

The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for team manager Sean Connor who is still searching for his first win after five games.

The pressure seemed too much for Connor as he avoided the media and ushered his charges back to their dressing room.

Yesterday, CAPS United had more clear cut chances, especially in the first half, but they failed to convert their dominance into goals.

Evans Gwekwerere started his first match of the season and lasted the entire 90 minutes in which he was a  constant threat to the Gunners defence.

CAPS United showed hunger to score as they forced the hosts to concede four corner kicks within the opening 15 minutes as Gwekwerere and Clive Kawinga asked the Gunners defence some questions.

The Gunners central defence of Pardon Chinungwa and Byron Madzokere were living on the edge as CAPS United threatened to score their first league goal from open play.

Gwekwerere could have scored in the 18th minute he took a volley midway in the Gunners half but the ball went just over the bar while Kawinga crashed his effort on the side netting hardly a minute later.

Referee, Ruzive Ruzive adjudged that Gwekwerere was offside in the 21st as CAPS United continued with their offensive play.

The Green Machine, the lost Kawinga after he picked up an injury to his left knee in the 21st minute with Rahman Kutsanzira coming off the bench.

CAPS United had their feeble appeal for a penalty dismissed by Ruzive after Madzokerere had handled the ball in the box.

Motivated by their dominance, CAPS United continued to pin Gunners deep in their own half with Charles Chiutsa coming close when he received a pass from Edmore Chafungamoyo, then beat his marker as he entered the box but shot over Prosper Chigumba’s goal in the 28th minute.

It was a golden chance that CAPS United lived to rue just like Gwekwerere’s powerful effort which was blocked for a corner kick in the 31st minute.

Gunners started coming into the game in the 32nd minute when Nyasha Mukumbi was hesitant to clear the ball and Leonard Fiyado pounced on the ball but Sibanda pushed for a corner kick.

So it was not misguided for some CAPS United fans to believe that their was on the right path after dominating play and with both Connor and Chitembwe giving instructions from the touchline.

The second half started brightly for CAPS when Gwekwerere chested the ball for Tafirenyika to take a crack at goal but found Chigumba well alert.

CAPS United players, especially on the right wing, then went on holiday and were hit with two quick goals from which they failed to recover.
