He said Government was also exploring numerous means of empowering the youths as they are the people who are the future of the country. He was speaking at the inaugural professional and business network youth empowerment conference hosted by Zaoga Ministries recently.

“The Government through my ministry is making frantic efforts in developing a number of programmes towards creation of wealth, poverty alleviation and employment creation for the youth.

“To this end my ministry has established a youth empowerment facility, in collaboration with the several financial institutions such as CBZ Bank, Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe, Genesis Investment Bank and ZABG,” he said.

He said all the financial institutions were extending loans to young people between the age of 18 and 35 who have viable business ideas without collateral.

“The participating financial institutions are extending small amounts to the tune of US$2 000 per project.

“Young people will be expected to service the loan and graduate from the initial US$2 000 to bigger loans,” he said.-Business Herald
