Remember Kavaza (42), of Mkoba Village 13, pleaded guilty to shoplifting at OK Supermarket on 24 December when he appeared before magistrate Mrs Florence Nago on Thursday.

Nothing was suspended from Kavaza’s sentence. For the State, Miss Chipo Matshe told the court that on 24 December, and at about 3 pm, Kavaza entered OK Supermarket where scores of shoppers were doing their shopping for the Christmas holidays.

Miss Matshe said while in the supermarket, Kavaza took advantage of many shoppers in the shop and stole three Tricycle padlocks before stashing them in his undergarments.

The court heard that Kavaza then walked out of the supermarket without paying for the padlocks.

Miss Matshe said a plain clothed supermarket security officer who had seen Kavaza stealing and concealing the padlocks  under his garments, followed him and arrested him at the supermarket’s exit point.

The security officer then took Kavaza and the stolen property and handed him to the police at Gweru Central Police Station.

The stolen padlocks are valued at $33 and were recovered.
