ZIFA have named a nine-member high performance technical committee that will be chaired by Zifa board member and former Warriors defender John Phiri.
The new committee saw the addition of four members from the previous team that had five and includes little known Mike Ngore from the Zifa coaches desk.
The retained members are legendary Misheck Chidzambwa, Gibson Homela, Charles Sibanda, former Highlanders assistant mentor Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu and the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association chairman Bheki Nyoni.

Maxwell Takaendesa, believed to be the new Zifa technical director and former Zifa board member competitions Benedict Moyo complete the list of the technical fundis whose duty, according to Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela, will be to provide an advisory role to all representative national teams.

“The coaches will remain independent with the high performance committee members coming in on an advisory role. They will have their first meeting on Wednesday,” said Gwesela.

The new committee comes hard on the heels of another disappointing but now common performance by the Zimbabwe Warriors under Ian Gorowa after they were knocked out by Tanzania on the first hurdle of their African Nations Cup qualifier journey.

The Warriors lost 0-1 in Tanzania before an uninspiring show at the National Sports Stadium where they were held to a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, Gwesela refuted claims that the previous committee was never consulted on any technical issues by Gorowa and his team.

“Those are baseless allegations,” he said.
